Armavir is the largest wine-growing region located in the western part of Armenia, in between Mounts Ararat and Aragats. The region is famous for its white wines, sparkling wines and fine brandies. Armavir is a high altitude region with is 850-1100 meters above sea level with dry continental climate, the difference between summer and winter temperatures here are among the sharpest in wine regions across the world. The most popular grape varieties are Khndoghni and Aligoté, as well as the other international grape varieties like Muscat, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay grapes. Most of the vineyards have popped up in the region in recent years, which have also introduced big part of the international varieties of grapes in the country. Overall, the region has big potential which is waiting to be fulfilled.
